Released early today was an announcement by Blizzard on the changes in ranked ladder as well as some balance changes that will hit the game at the end of the month.
Take a Breather
In it, Blizzard introduced Ladder Floors to help encourage players to touch the ladder again while experimenting on new decks. Once players reach ranks 15, 10 and 5, they will no longer drop lower than their floor, similar to that of Rank 20 and Rank Legend.
I, for one, believe this is a step towards the right direction. Even if it is a band-aid fix to a larger underlying problem of Ranked games being a grind to play. Put simply, it sucked to have to climb to rank 10, only to lose multiple games in a row to return to 16. Now, it just sucks less.
Personally, I believe the Star system has to go. I sincerely hope Blizzard is exploring the option of introducing a proper Elo system similar to that of Chess. With floors.
As for the 2 nerfed cards, Small-Time Buccaneer and Spirit Claws. While it is fair the Blizzard announced the change to hit servers at the end of the month. I believe it was introduced a tad bit too late. Apparently we have to suffer a little more of “WHO GOES DARRRR” for a bit more before we can fire some Arcane Missiles in his face.
Elephants Guide Me
As for Shamans, I don’t believe we’ve seen the last of them. They have way too many options right now to be obsolete. Especially since ONLY 2 cards were nerfed during this balance patch.
Again, this is a step in the right direction for Blizzard. One can only hope they pick up the pace and start jogging instead.
